The Fashionable Fashionista, Alexis Barr, is a Senior Biology major hailing from Clarksdale, Mississippi. Barr has no fear when it comes to playing with color, different fabrics, and textiles while making a bold fashion statement. She describes fashion as a way of expression and a way of being free. Always having a visionary eye, she found her true style her Sophomore year of high school when she met her friends, who were also fashion-driven.
Barr would describe her style as a mixture of vintage yet versatile. She is heavily inspired by the fashion styles of the 60s, 70s, and 90s eras. Thrifting is also very important to her as she describes it as a way to budget efficiently while expanding her wardrobe. The styles of Fran Drescher from “The Nanny” and Kerry Washington from “Scandal” are some of the characters who fashionably inspire her.
Barr’s current favorite fashion trends are halter wrap tops and stacked jeans. Her fashion go-to’s can vary from baggy jeans, satin silk tops, heels, and much more. For people still trying to find their style, she suggests to “Always wear what you like, and don’t be scared to experiment in different styles until you find one that you are most comfortable with.” With the Fall season approaching, Barr is looking forward to bringing a fashionable, optimistic sense of style to ‘The Yard’. She plans to get more into the chic side of fashion while still maintaining her vintage aesthetic.
