THE CAMPUS CHRONICLE

A True Queen

Kristina Brown is the epitome of a true queen. Because of her hard work, dedication and bravery, Brown was crowned the 91st Miss Alcorn State University (ASU) by the student body.  She is the daughter of Madeline and Roger Brown.  She is a Junior Psychology major from the Capital City of Jackson, Mississippi.  In her spare time she enjoys making YouTube videos and socializing with friends. Being crowned Miss ASU has always been a dream of hers, so this year she decided to make that dream become a reality.

Brown said she was inspired to run for Miss Alcorn because she felt as though she could make a difference within the Alcorn community by helping bridge the gap between the Student Government Association (SGA) and the student body. During her upcoming reign as Miss Alcorn, she plans to incorporate several programs to better accommodate the needs of students and surrounding communities.

“I’d like to incorporate more weekend events and text notifications so that the student body can easily stay up-to-date with the changes and events that take place on campus. I would also like to create a “Sister Sister” program so that high school girls who are Seniors can be mentored by young ladies who are already in college. This program would serve as a bridge between transitioning from high school to college,” stated Brown.

She says that she is still shocked and feels so privileged to be elected as the 91st Miss Alcorn State University.

“I look forward to fulfilling my new role to the best of my ability and working with the student body collectively to make the 2017-2018 school term fun, a success and one to remember,” said Brown.
