Actor’s Spotlight: Ryan Reynolds

Television, movies, and producing, it seems like actor Ryan Reynolds does it all.

The youngest of four brothers, Reynolds was born on October 23, 1976 in Vancouver, British Columbia to Tammy and James Chester “Jim” Reynolds. He was raised in a Roman Catholic household and graduated from Kitsilano Secondary School in Vancouver. Once out of high school, Reynolds attended Kwantlen Polytechnic University until deciding to leave to pursue his career in acting.

Reynolds began his career at the age of twelve, when he was cast in a Canadian teen drama that ran from 1991 to 1993 titled Hillside, but later renamed Fifteen when it aired in the United States. It wasn’t until 1998 that Reynolds’ career began to take off when he was cast in the sitcom Two Guys and a Girl. At the show’s ending, he began accepting roles in films such as National Lampoon’s Van Wilder (2002), Blade: Trinity (2004), The Amityville Horror (2005), and X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009) where he first appeared as the comic character Deadpool. Earlier this year Reynolds starred in the Marvel Comics production of Deadpool which was critically acclaimed.

Currently, Reynolds has been cast in 66 titles including television and film and has produced 5 films. His first project as a producer, The Whale (2011), won an Outstanding Achievement in Filmmaking award in the Newport Beach Film Festival in 2012. Other producing credits that Reynolds has attached his name to is Deadpool (2016) which to date has grossed $733,960,346 worldwide.

Reynolds is married to Blake Lively. They have one daughter together and currently reside in Bedford, New York.
