Tiffany Haddish, 37, is one of those comediennes who has successfully taken a leap of faith from stand up comedy to film. Born and raised in South Central Los Angeles, she has a raunchiness that keeps the audience entertained but it also keeps them wanting to see her next project or live appearance. Haddish’s life wasn’t always filled with laughter and hope. Her mother, Leola, was a paranoid schizophrenic and her father, Tsihaye, left the family when she was only three. Forced to raise her four siblings at a very young age forced Haddish to mature very quickly upon which she used comedy to cope with her problems.
Attending the Laugh Factory Comedy Camp at the age of 17 helped pave her career to comedy. Learning the ins and outs of comedy in the camp she began her career as a comedienne by working at IMPROV Comedy Clubs around the country to perfect her craft.
In 2005 her career transitioned to television and movies. Some of her more notable works include Funniest Wins, Real Husbands of Hollywood, NBC’s The Carmichael Show, A Christmas Wedding and Keanu. Her most recognizable work was in the 2017 Summer hit Girl’s Trip in the role of Dina, one the film’s most likable characters.
The success of Girl’s Trip has opened many doors for Haddish in Hollywood. In August 2017, her comedy special, Tiffany Haddish: She Ready! From the Hood to Hollywood, will premiere on Showtime. Also in 2017, it was announced that she would be co-starring opposite Tracy Morgan in an upcoming TBS sitcom entitled, The Last O.G. Haddish will also star in the 2018 comedy film Night School alongside Kevin Hart and reunite with Girl’s Trip director Malcom D. Lee to film a Girl’s Trip II.
Haddish currently resides in Los Angeles, California.
