The ferocious wordsmith, Lecrae, released his 8th studio album entitled ‘All Things Work Together’ on September 22, 2017 as his Columbia Record debut.
With the dramatic noir filter on his album cover, highlighting the side of Lecrae’s face, you can tell that this album was intended to convey the pain and turmoil that he had faced after releasing his last solo album in 2014.
‘All Things Work Together’ consists of 14 melodic tracks produced by some of the best state-of-the art producers in the game such as Metro Boomin, Zaytoveen, A+ from EarDrummers and Mike WiLL Made-It.
During this album you’ll hear a variety of vibes. On tracks such as “Always Knew”, “Can’t Stop Me Now (Destination)”, “I’ll Find You” feat. Tori Kelly, “Cry for You” feat. Taylor Hill, “Wish You the Best” feat. Verse Simmonds and “Worth It” feat. Kierra Sheard & Jawan Harris, you hear those dark moments that Lecrae was facing as he mentions depression, doubt, people stealing money from him and loss of hope.
Whereas in other songs such as “Broke”, “Blessings” feat. Ty Dolla $ign, “Whatchu Mean” feat. Aha Gazelle, “Hammer Time” feat. 1k Phew, “Come and Get Me”, “Lucked Up” feat. Nija and “8:28,” Lecrae drives you through his brightest moments with a mixture of heavy and low bass and 808s.
Lecrae showed free range when it came to self-expression and creativity. He talks about things such as politics, social injustices, economics and many other different topics. In a Billboard interview he stated, “For this album, I quit caring. As a Christian artist in society, there is a certain image that I have to uphold and on this album I wanted my fans and other Christians to see/hear that regardless of my faith I am human and I go through human things.”
Lecrae’s ‘All Things Work Together’ is a beautiful and inclusive album which receives 10 stars out of 10 stars.
