Album Review: Before You Go

Matthew Dean Burdette, born September 17, 1992, known professionally as Blxst, pronounced “blast”, is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer from Los Angeles, California.

Recently the artist released his third project titled ‘Before You Go’. The project was released on April 22, 2022, and consists of 13 songs and has a listening time of 32 minutes. The album has several features with artists including Rick Ross, Zacari, Arin Ray and Grandmaster Vic. The project has a dull cover which is great because it doesn’t distract the viewers/listeners from the true message which is Blxst’s uniqueness. It combines the rare sound of the artist and his personality to produce this work of art that did not disappoint.

A particular song that stands out on the album was track number six titled “Couldn’t Wait for It” featuring Rick Ross. The track is detailing a little background information of the artist’s childhood and his mentality now. Blxst produced a motivational record with his smooth style as well which makes it exceptional groovy. Rick Ross’s voice on this record makes it feel “boss like” which is what Blxst was going for.

Another great song off of the album was track three titled “About You”. “About You” is a happy, feel good song which has a vibe for dancing and spreading love. If you want to start the day off right I would recommend this track. Another song that’s similar to that is “Every Good Girl” which is a song about empowering young girls in the world to do better and stay good.

‘Before You Go’ has depth and is very inspiring. It brings good vibes with a taste for positivity. I highly recommend you download it today.
