THE CAMPUS CHRONICLE

Album Review: Cut of Cloth

Melodic is a term defined as something that is pleasant-sounding, therefore, this artist fits those criteria and exceeds it simultaneously. Alexandria, a self-publishing artist, has 2 studio albums filled with songs that gives me chills from the amount of relaxation her voice gives. Unfortunately, her sales are not publicized due to her being an underground artist. With her being independent, not much information is given about her or her success publicly, but I think she makes up for this insufficiency with vibes and talent. ‘Cut of Cloth’ is a personal favorite of mine and the second album she published in 2016. The album has 16 songs and I have all of them downloaded. I can’t name a song a listener would want to skip.

My top 5 songs on the album are “Prelude” (1st song), “Time Will Tell” (9th song), “Tempo Go”
(14th song), “Never Too Much” (12th song) and “Riot” (15th song). These songs take me through a rollercoaster of emotions and would take a person who has had bad and good relationship experiences through the same thing. Alexandria’s voice could comfort someone like hot coco by the fireplace in the Winter. These songs also have nice beats and proficient audio engineering to provide an astronomical surround sound in a decent sound system.

I listen to these songs while on interstates and highways at night. To paint the picture, you are driving to a far destination at night with no one on the road but you and your past. Alexandria’s lyrics may cause you to think about your past, but she makes it all better with her beautiful voice. The beat in a nice sound system could play as a massage to the body and calm you down with the vibrations of the beat from these songs. Research suggests that music with a slow tempo and a low frequency, such as 60 beats per minute and lower, can help to slow down the heart rate and breathing, leading to a feeling of relaxation. This is because these types of frequencies mimic the natural rhythms of the body, which can help to create a sense of harmony and balance.

In addition, studies have shown that music with a strong bassline can help to promote feelings of relaxation and calmness. This is because the low-frequency vibrations from the bass can have a massage-like effect on the body, helping to reduce muscle tension and promote relaxation.

On Alexandria’s entire album, she provides plenty of bass in her songs to totally relax the listeners mind, body and soul. I personally would rate this album a 10 out of 10 because it does not miss at all. She is authentic from her approach and is talking about topics that can relate to any person who has had the same experiences she has had.
