THE CAMPUS CHRONICLE

Album Review: Future Nostalgia

Music fans were first introduced to English-born singer Dua Lipa back in 2017 with the release of the Summer anthem “New Rules”. Three years later, the Pop star returned to the game with the Funkadelic Pop infused album, ‘Future Nostalgia’. At only 13 tracks long, ‘Future Nostalgia’ is the playful collection of tunes that we needed during this pandemic.

The 43 minute long album starts perfectly with the feminist anthem ‘Future Nostalgia’. The track will leave you feeling empowered and untouchable. “No matter what you do, I’m gonna get it without ya. I know you ain’t used to a female alpha,” Lipa sings confidently.

The rest of the album makes you feel like you just hopped into a time machine and took a trip to Studio 54 (a popular nightclub in the 70s). It is filled with Disco styled beats that almost make you forget that they are in 2021. The album is the perfect stress reliever.  ‘Future Nostalgia’ is definitely the most pristine album to listen to when you want to take a break from reality.
