It goes without saying that some artists would release albums showcasing the same sound so that the album is synonymous to listeners. SoMo takes that concept to another level. While listening to the project, listeners are consistently bombarded with the same message that, with any other artist, would normally make them turn the radio off. However, SoMo’s delivery is so well executed, that listeners could listen to the album, “My Life II”, on repeat for days.
Carrying a strong sexual message to audiences, “My Life II” was released on September 11, 2015. The contemporary album contains nine tracks with only one feature with Trey Songz.
One of the album’s flagship songs, ‘Fallin’ Up’ harnesses a typical contemporary pop song melody. While falling in love and feeling as though he’s on cloud nine, SoMo uses his strong seductive vocals to express himself on this track. Though the melody of the song is cliché in today’s music, the concept of the song is uniquely addressed. Instead of just falling in love, the artist is falling up, because the love is heavenly.
It wouldn’t be right to have a sex album without the “inventor of sex” artist, Trey Songz. The only feature song on the album, ‘Hide and Freak’, is one of the more memorable songs. Although Songz isn’t featured on the track long, both artist’s vocals mesh very well together. Soulful and enticing, SoMo has proven that sex songs are his strong point. “My Life II” receives 8 stars out of 10 stars.
