Alcorn Celebrates C100 Week

The Collegiate 100 Women of Alcorn State University (ASU) hosted their Collegiate 100 Week on February 24th though the 28th. The organization hosts this week annually in appreciation to all of their members and their hard work and dedication to the organization. The week also gives Alcorn students the opportunity to engage and potentially become new members for the next academic school year.

Vice President, Kailyn Phillips, stated, “C100 Week was inspired by our commitment to service, leadership, and community impact. We wanted to create a dedicated time to engage, uplift, and connect with students and the community through meaningful events. Our goal was to not only celebrate our organization’s mission but also to expand our reach and welcome new members who share our passion for making a difference. Through this week, we hoped to inspire others to get involved and continue building a legacy of excellence at Alcorn State University.”

On Monday, February 24th, the women of Collegiate 100 hosted a ‘Cafe Cleanup’, in honor of community service. Service is a huge part of the reason that this organization began in the Fall of 2020. The event was also an announcement to all students at Alcorn to be diligent and willing to serve their fellow man who is in need.

Tuesday, February 25th, was set aside for ‘Auction a Member’, which was an event that would have taken place in the James L. Bolden Campus Union. The auction was set up to help the Collegiate 100 raise money for the organization’s needs and future events. Unfortunately, it had to be cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances.

On Wednesday, February 26th, the organization hosted a ‘Day Party’ from 5:00 pm – 8:30 pm for students on campus to come out and buy food, drinks, and have fun.

Transitioning to Thursday, February 27th, the women hosted an event at Port Gibson High School (PGHS) in Port Gibson, Mississippi. The event called ‘Girl Let’s Talk’, was based upon sharing powerful and inspiring messages to the Senior girls of PGHS about their transition from high school to college. The goal was to inspire the high schoolers to be mindful, respectful, and always be themselves while entering a new chapter in their lives.

Friday, February 28th was not an actual event. This day was set aside for the annual raffle the women hosted to award a lucky Alcorn student any free service on campus. The winner will be announced at the end of this week.
