Alcorn’s Mass Communications Department Expands Curriculum

Students pursuing studies in Mass Communications now have two new concentrations to choose from following recent curriculum changes. In addition to the traditional track that prepares students for news media careers, the Mass Communications Department also offers emphasis on Public Relations and Sports Media. The curriculum changes will become effective in the Fall of 2023.

The changes resulted from the combined efforts of faculty in the Mass Communications Department who took note of the ever-changing global media market. This is at least the second major curriculum overhaul the Department has experienced following the previous combination of the original Print and Broadcast media concentrations.

The continued success of Mass Communications alumni is the best evidence of how the program has adapted over the years to produce graduates who are competitive and equipped to succeed in the professional world. The new concentrations will open additional post-graduate employment opportunities for students.

Mass Communications full-time and adjunct faculty include the following: Dr. Anne Obilade (Chair), Dr. Eric Dogini (Program Director), Dr. Jerry Domatob, Larry Sanders, Toni Terrett and Curtis Aaron.
