Alcorn Presents 2017 High School Day Cheer Camp

On Saturday, September 16, 2017 the Alcorn State University (ASU) Cheerleading team will host a High School Day Cheer Camp from 9:00 am to 10:30 am at the E.E. Simmons Gymnasium (Old Gym). The registration fee for the event is $20.00 per participant.

The camp will include lunch, a game day ticket to see the Alcorn State University Braves take on the McNeese State Cowboys at Spinks-Casem Stadium and a meal voucher. The team that sells the most ASU Rosters for $1 will cheer at the Davey L. Whitney Complex for everyone at High School Day and on the sidelines with the Alcorn Cheerleaders during the first half of the game. ASU Cheer Coach Kelunda Robinson stated, “I’m excited. I’m eager to show the community how cheer has evolved and impacts our young girls today.”

Participants in the camp are Jim Hill High School from Jackson, Mississippi, Natchez High School from Natchez, Mississippi, Vicksburg High School from Vicksburg, Mississippi, Hattiesburg High School from Hattiesburg, Mississippi, South Pike Senior High School from Magnolia, Mississippi and Jefferson County High School from Fayette, Mississippi. Cheer Captain Arielle Miles, a Sophomore Biology (Pre-Med) major from Shreveport, Louisiana stated, “I am elated about our upcoming event. This is a great way to expose girls in the cheer world to collegiate cheerleading.”
