It’s that time of year again where the seasons change along with the former Student Government Association’s (SGA) elected officials. On April 12th-19th, prospective candidates campaigned to become the newest representatives for Alcorn State University’s SGA for the 2021-2022 academic school year.
To finish off campaign week, the 94th Miss Alcorn State University, Taea Jackson, presented the Miss and Mister Alcorn pageant in the Campus Union Ballroom showcasing candidates vying to become the next Mister and Miss Alcorn State University. Voting for the next SGA representatives was originally scheduled for Tuesday, April 20th, but due to technical difficulties with the voting system, it was rescheduled and candidates were allowed to virtually continue their campaigns. On Thursday, April 22nd, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, students were allowed to vote for candidates of their choice.
After a long week of campaigning, the former members of the SGA announced the representatives for SGA for the 2021-2022 academic school year on Thursday, April 22nd at 8:00 pm on the Campus Plaza Green. Students also voted for the activity fee to be changed from $15 to $50 per semester.
