THE CAMPUS CHRONICLE

Alcorn Students Take a Bite Out of ‘The Big Apple’

Four Alcorn State University (ASU) Mass Communications students were granted a trip to New York from Thursday, November 2nd to Sunday, November 5th to attend the American Advertising Federation’s (AAF) Annual Student Conference.

Delesha Banks, Mekiyla Brown, D’Marius Jones, and Jo’Wani Jones all embarked together on this journey. These students got the opportunity to network with top advertising professionals from some of the world’s leading agencies such as TikTok.

The Conference featured keynote speakers, workshops, and panel discussions, all of which were interactive and very informative. These four also got to meet with other students and professionals from across the country to discuss the ins and outs of Advertising.

D. Jones stated, “Being in New York for the first time made me realize how important it is to travel. While there I couldn’t help but realize how it’s more to the world. I also thought that New York was exactly how I thought it would be from the perception the media presents it as. Overall, I was just thankful I got the chance to experience it.”

Brown shared her insight stating, “With this being my second sponsored trip by AAF, I absolutely love to travel for one and for two, big thanks to all of the people who made it possible for making sure that we get a seat at the table just like everybody else. Each trip I learned more and more that opportunities are out there, but you have to jump on them because they don’t come every day.”
