Artist Spotlight: Megan Thee Stallion

Megan Jovon Ruth Pete, better known by her stage name, Megan Thee Stallion, is a Texas born Rapstress. Pete began rapping at the age of 18, however, she didn’t pursue her career until she was 21.

Megan first generated buzz back in 2013 while still a student at Prairie View A&M University. During that time, she would upload videos of herself battling male opponents which began to circulate. Soon after, she started posting freestyle videos of herself on social media which garnered a huge fan base.

In April 2016, Megan released her first single, “Like A Stallion”. Soon after, her mixtapes ‘Rich Ratchet’ (2016) and ‘Megan Mix’ (2017) were released via SoundCloud. Later in 2017, Stallion received mainstream success with the 2017 EP ‘Make It Hot’.

In 2019, Meg garnered mainstream success with the release of “Big Ole Freak” from her EP ‘Tina Snow’. The song was a Billboard hit peaking at #65 on the Billboard Hot 100. Later that year, Megan was featured on the 12th annual XXL’s Freshman edition.

In November 2020, after releasing a string of mixtapes, Meg released her debut album, ‘Good News’. The album included several singles including, “Body”, “Savage”, “Don’t Stop”, “Girls In The Hood”, “Savage Remix”, and “Cry Baby” and debuted at number 2 on the Billboard 200 Chart and number 1 on the Top R&B/ Hip Hop Album’s Chart.

Over her career, Meg has released one album, 2 mixtapes and 1 EP. She has won multiple awards including an AMA, MTV Award, People’s Choice Award, Soul Train Award and several BET, Billboard and Grammy Awards.
