Julius Dubose aka A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie is a Bronx, New York Hip Hop artist who was born on December 6th, 1995. He began rapping at the age of twelve after listening to fellow Hip Hop emcees Kanye West and 50 Cent. While he was attending Eagle Academy in the Bronx, A Boogie expanded upon rapping during his Freshman year, performing rhymes at lunchtime that he had written and stored in a large notebook that he carried with him.

Growing up, A Boogie often got into legal trouble, mainly for selling drugs. After finding out about A Boogie’s drug related activities, his parents sent him to Florida to live with grandparents. While in Florida, he was kept under house arrest and would find himself trying to perfect his self-composed rhymes. He even built an amateur studio inside his grandparent’s home. Following his graduation from high school, Dubose began to focus on music while working jobs in different sectors including construction and pizza delivery.

A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie’s music career began at the age of 19 with the track “Temporary”, which the rapper released on Soundcloud. In 2015, A Boogie relocated back to New York and in an attempt to launch his rap career, he, along with fellow New Yorkers, Don Q, Quincy “QP” Acheampong & Bubba created Highbridge the Label and set up a home studio. Boogie then released his first project which was a mixtape entitled ‘Artist’ on February 14th, 2016.

In July 2016, he signed a deal with Atlantic Records. In September of the same year Boogie opened up for Drake and Future during their Summer Sixteen tour. He was also featured on the BET Hip Hop Awards alongside fellow rappers Don Q, Russ, Kent Jones and Nick Grant. In 2017, A Boogie was featured on XXL magazine’s 2017 Freshman class along with artists such as PnB Rock, Playboi Carti, XXXtentacion, Ugly God, and Kyle, to name a few.

Over his career, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie has released a total of 3 studio albums, ‘The Bigger Artist’ (2017), which peaked at number four on the Billboard 200, ‘Hoodie Szn’ (2018), which peaked at number two on the Billboard 200 and ‘Artist 2.0’ (2020), which also peaked at number two on the Billboard 200.
