Newest SGA Members Announced for 2019-2020

It’s that time of year again where the seasons change along with the former Student Government Association’s (SGA) elected officials. On March 18 – 22, 2019 the hopeful candidates campaigned to become the newest representatives for Alcorn State University’s SGA for the 2019-2020 academic year.

Voting for the prospective candidates began on Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at the Student Union in the Multipurpose Room from 9:00 am through 5:00 pm. The candidates were informed that if any candidate didn’t receive 50 percent of the vote, there would be a run off on Thursday, March 28, 2019 at the Student Union in the Multipurpose Room from 9:00 am through 5:00 pm. As a result, there was a runoff for the Miss Senior position between Erin Cannon and Zoria Nicholson upon which Cannon won.

Here are the newly elected officials for Alcorn’s 2019-2020 Student Government Association.

MISS ALCORN STATE UNIVERSITY: JAKHIA GRAY

SENIOR CLASS PRESIDENT: TYTIANA SMITH

MISS SENIOR: ERIN CANNON

JUNIOR CLASS PRESIDENT: TAEA JACKSON

MISS JUNIOR: KAZIAH ROBINSON

SOPHOMORE CLASS PRESIDENT: JANAJAH FORD

MISS SOPHOMORE: ARIEL SIMMONS

1ST VICE PRESIDENT: JAMES HERRINGTON

2ND VICE: JENNIFER MBA-MADUBUIKE

EXECUTIVE SECRETARY: HOLLIE JAMES

BUSINESS MANAGER: DEON LACEY

The incoming Freshman class will get to vote for Miss Freshman and the Freshman Class President during Freshman Orientation which will take place in the Fall of 2019.
