As a new semester began this Fall, so did a new chapter for Alcorn State University’s bookstore. Previously operated by Barnes and Nobles, the bookstore welcomed a new company, Follett Higher Education Group.
A unit of the Auxiliary Services Department in the Division of Administration and Finance, Follett caters to 80,000 schools across the United States providing course materials via digital or print. Follett offers a year-round buyback program and price matching which promotes the idea of affordable classroom materials. The current manager for the campus bookstore, Roshae Lacy, emphasized the variety that the store has to offer, “We have apparel, textbooks and technology items such as thumb drives, headphones and printer necessities.”
The bookstore also features a convenience area, the Recharge U. This is a one stop shop for snacks, drinks or beauty products.
A Junior Criminal Justice major, Miles Ellington expressed his fondness of the new bookstore company stating, “We have a lot of new clothes and everything is organized.”
The hours of operation for the bookstore are Monday through Thursday from 8:00 am until 6:00 pm and Friday from 8:00 am until 4:00 pm and the Recharge U is open from 8:00 am until 6:00 pm weekdays and 12:00 pm until 5:00 pm on Saturdays.
