Braves Lose 7th SWAC Game to Tigers

The Alcorn State University Braves (8-15, 4-7) looked to continue their home winning streak as they set out to compete against the Grambling State University Tigers (13-11, 7-4) Monday, February 11th at 7:30 pm at the Davey L. Whitney Complex in Lorman, Mississippi.

Alcorn got out to a really slow start as they trailed 10-0 with 16:00 minutes left in the first half. Picking up the pace, slowly but surely, the Braves began to chip away at Grambling’s lead. Although they began to score, it wasn’t enough as they were outscored in the first half 32-16. Coming back after the half, the Braves were rejuvenated and ready to put on a show for the home crowd. Leaving everything out on the floor, Alcorn State outscored Grambling State 37-33, but with the Braves’ slow start in the first half, their efforts in second half were for naught as they were defeated 65-53.

Alcorn was lead by Sophomore, Troymain Crosby, as he tallied 16 points, 7 assists and 5 rebounds. Trailing him was Senior, Reginal Johnson with 14 points. Grambling was lead by Ivy Smith as he poured in 16 points. Following him was DeVante Jackson with 12 points and 5 rebounds.

Looking to bounce back from this loss the Braves’ next contest will be on the road on Saturday, February 12th against the Mississippi Valley State Devils (3-22, 1-10).
