Comfort and durability are the new trend

These days people don’t only want to look good but also be comfortable at the same time and the fashion industry is moving quickly to comfort as a first approach. One of the industry’s most popular and successful footwear is Crocs which are worn by all types of people. It is a brand that focuses on comfortability and utility. It is known for its minimalist designs and holes. It has been trending since the Spring of 2020. It is nothing like the fashion industry has ever seen before. According to the global fashion search platform Lyst’s 2020 report, Crocs footwears were the eighth most wanted item in the world, with average monthly searches hitting a total of 135,000. It is also the most sought after footwear in the United States. For the second quarter of 2021, revenues rose 19.8% to $312.8 million, besting Wall Street’s expectations of $302.1 million. The brand also reported earnings of 57 cents per share. Crocs are performing well in every sector. It is affordable, colorful, plus it allows people to put their designs on them as well.

Crocs are a trend which are very popular on the campus of Alcorn State University (ASU) and speaking with different students made me understand their take on the comfortable footwear.

“I was initially indifferent about Crocs. However, I recently received my first pair as a gift. I appreciate their simplicity and ease of wear which I believe is why people love them. They are easy to slip on, store and maintain. They even have stylish jewels and buttons that can be added to personalize the shoe,” said Indria Sprivey, who is a fashion designer at ASU. “Crocs have always been there as my mother told me but under different names. I was told they were actually very popular for workers in the healthcare area due to long hours of walking and standing,” she added.

Crocs have had many celebrities endorse the footwear and promote a diverse range of collaboration with the brand. As a result, many people have been influenced to get a pair or two even those who weren’t initially keen on the brand or style.

“I don’t really like Crocs because it doesn’t actually fit my style, but when I saw two of my favorite artists which are Justin Bieber and Post Malone do a commercial about the footwear, I had to go get myself a pair immediately” said Daniel Ajiga, who is a model at Alcorn State.

Crocs are definitely a product that is here to stay.
