Delta Kappa Brings Alpha Week to Alcorn

The Men of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., Delta Kappa Chapter, hosted Alpha Week 2025 from Monday, October 27th through Friday, October 31st, on the campus of Alcorn State University (ASU).

Greek weeks are normally held throughout the semester on ‘The Yard’. It is a chance for the organizations to host events and give back to the campus and surrounding community.

The week began on Monday, October 27th with the Men of Alpha traveling to Jefferson County Middle School to teach young men how to properly tie a tie. This event was one of the Alpha’s national projects.

On Tuesday, October 28th the Alphas wore suits and passed out yellow roses to ladies in the Dr. Clinton Bristow Jr. Dining Facility (cafeteria) and presented Miss Delta Kappa and Miss Black and Old Gold with a bouquet of yellow roses.

Unfortunately, on Wednesday, October 29th the event scheduled was cancelled. The event titled ‘Auction An Alpha’ would have taken place in the Biotech Auditorium. In the auction, there would have been 10 contestants who were a part of the Delta Kappa Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha. The participants would have presented themselves to the highest bidder to raise money for the Chapter.

On Thursday, October 30th the Men of Alpha partnered with the Theta Sigma Lamda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha (Graduate Chapter) and hosted a Trunk or Treat for the children of Port Gibson and Fayette, Mississippi in the ballroom of Alcorn State University.

On Friday, October 31st, the Cookout/Day Party for the students was regrettably canceled.

Member of Delta Kappa, Jacoby Howard, stated, “This is my first Alpha Week as an Alpha and I am extremely proud of what we did this week.”
