Disney Visits ‘The Reservation’

On Thursday, March 2nd at 9:30 am in room 215 in the Industrial Technology Building at Alcorn State University (ASU), Jabreel Walker spoke to the Mass Communications students about the opportunities within The Walt Disney Companyā€™s, Disney on the Yard Program.

Walker, who is the Director of the Cargill Thrive Program at ASU and a liaison between Alcorn and Disney, spoke about the opportunities that the Disney on the Yard Program provides for Historically Black College and University (HBCU) students. The Program reaches out to HBCUs all over the country to inform students of the numerous positions available at Disney.

The Program is a Summer long internship that pays and aids students of HBCUs with scholarships. It is dedicated to building a community of HBCU alumni working within the Walt Disney Company and providing meaningful relationships and opportunities for students. Walker stated, “This program was dedicated for African American students, and it is important that they take advantage of these type of opportunities. Working for the Walt Disney Company, you will develop a lot of life skills and learn how to cooperate and work properly within the workforce.”

At 1:00 pm, also on March 2nd, Disney representatives conducted a presentation at the Little Theater in the Fine Arts Building for prospective students who wanted to learn more about the Program.

Applications for Disney on the Yard opened on January 22, 2023 for the Summer internship. If you are interested in applying visit www.jobs.disneycareers.com, and if you have any questions reach out to Ms. Walker at (601) 877-6125 or email her at jabreelw@alcorn.edu.
