THE CAMPUS CHRONICLE

Dreams to Reality

Gray Media Training Center’s Fall intern is staying with Gray Television. Dejona Sims, a Mass Communicatons Graduating Senior at Alcorn State University (ASU), has accepted a Technical Media Producer position with Gray’s sister station WLOX-TV ABC CBS Bounce on the Mississippi Coast.

A transfer from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College (MGCCC), Sims decided to attend ASU to finish her last two years of schooling after visiting the campus to attend a football game. She made the decision to come to Alcorn because of the rise of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) that were being spotlighted and she knew that her talents would be showcased properly.

“Alcorn has introduced me to great opportunities, and I was able to learn how to work a camera before I got an internship. I am very thankful for my professors and what they taught me,” stated Sims.

Her advice to upcoming graduates is to just be confident and always work hard because working hard can open doors to new opportunities. Sims plans to enroll in Mississippi State University in 2024 to study Meteorology, living out her dream of becoming a Meteorologist.
