HOW MANY YEARS HAVE YOU BEEN AT ALCORN? I have been at Alcorn for 8 years since August 2016. I am currently the Associate Professor/Coordinator of the Mass Communications Program at Alcorn State University.
WHAT ARE YOUR PERSONAL GOALS? My goal is to build a strong scholarly work for myself, help develop students, my department, the School of Arts and Sciences, and the University.
WHAT DO YOU ENJOY THE MOST ABOUT WORKING FOR ALCORN? My favorite memory would be the way my colleagues work well with one another, which gave me the opportunity to start the Alpha Chi Alpha Chapter of Lambda Pi Eta National Communication Association (NCA) honor program in the Communications Department at Alcorn State University. I enjoy the hospitality of the staff, faculty and the students. I have not met anyone who is not willing to help me yet.
WHAT IS THE MOST MEMORABLE THING YOU’VE LEARNED FROM A COLLEGE STUDENT?The students are very respectful and I have learned a lot about Mississippi from the students.
WHEN YOU’RE AT WORK, HOW DO YOU MOTIVATE YOURSELF? The students keep me motivated daily.
IN TERMS OF SUCCESS, WHICH ACCOMPLISHMENTS ARE YOU MOST PROUD? My colleagues and I added a new face to the Mass Communication Program by remodeling the television studio, purchasing new computers, new chairs and desks which helped to prepare the students for a successful learning environment, developed an on-air broadcast on ASU-TV 13, prepared faculty for effective teaching and prepared the program for ACEJMC professional accreditation.
WHAT’S THE BEST ADVICE THAT YOU CAN GIVE TO SOMEONE WHO JUST STARTED THEIR CAREER AT ALCORN? Enjoy your job and maintain close relationships with colleagues and have a good understanding with the staff and students.
