Honor Student Organization Holds Appreciation Luncheon

Members of the Honor Student Organization (HSO) hosted an appreciation luncheon on Monday, April 24, 2017 at the Dr. Clinton Bristow, Jr. Dining Facility on the 2nd Floor in the Gold Room for the Seniors within the organization. The event was primarily to thank HSO members and Seniors for their support to the Pre-Professional and Honors Curriculum Program, Alcorn State University and the local community.

At the Senior’s appreciation program, Lena Dixon, HSO Vice President and Junior Social Work major delivered the Welcome and Occasion, Rev. Tara J. Hayes delivered the Invocation, Destiny Crockett, Senior and Environment Science major read an appreciation poem while Ayana Whitlock, a Junior and Social Work major sang an uplifting song.  Inspirational Words presenters were Myquis Levels-Morgan, a Senior Business Administration major, Rayford Mullins, a Senior Psychology major and Dana Stevenson-Saah, a Senior Special Education major. Later, Xavier Bradford, HSO President and Junior Biology/Pre-Dental major handed out 47 certificates to Seniors and 3 certificates to special guests for their service to the Honor Student Organization.

Dr. Wandra Arrington, Assistant Director of the Honors Curriculum Program at Alcorn State University, stated in her closing remarks her appreciation to HSO members for their support of the Pre-Professional and Honors Curriculum Program. She also thanked the students for everything that they had accomplished and would accomplish in the future.  “You are treasured and we were grateful to you for your help with our program at Alcorn,” stated Dr. Arrington.
