Alcorn State University (ASU) announced Jake Morton as their 15th Head Men’s Basketball Coach in program history at the Watermark in Vicksburg, Mississippi, on Wednesday, April 23rd, during a special Meet & Greet event.
Morton recently served as the Assistant Coach at Florida State University under the now-retiring Seminole Head Coach Leonard Hamilton. This will be Morton’s first job as a head coach, but he carries with him veteran coaching experience. He has coached for more than two decades, with time spent in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), Atlantic Sun, and the American Athletic Conference (AAC). Morton was also a standout collegiate player at the University of Miami and played professionally in Israel. “I’m very excited to be named the Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Alcorn State University. With the support of President Tracy M. Cook and Athletic Director E. D’Wayne Robinson, there is no doubt that we can take this program into the next stage of greatness,” Morton said.
