THE CAMPUS CHRONICLE

Jhamir Adams’ VOGUE Campaign

During Alcorn State University’s (ASU) campaign week Jhamir Adams’ VOGUE campaign definitely served some high fashion moments. From September 14th through the 18th, he put his one true love, fashion, into a campaign that will be remembered for years to come.

Adams is a Sophomore Business Administration major from Meridian, Mississippi and for his Sophomore Class President campaign, he ran on the platform VOGUE(Visualizing.Our.Growth.Uniting.Everyone). Adams is currently the Vice-President for the 2020-2021 school year of Truly Recognizing and Embracing Natural Differences (TREND) (one of ASU’s modeling squads) and the looks he presented throughout the week showed everyone why he has that title.

Starting off campaign week, Adams posted his first flyer on Monday in a white T-shirt with the words VOGUE printed in bold black letters. He paired his T-shirt with a black fringe jacket embroidered with gold patches. Along with the gold patches he sewed himself, he added gold trimming along the side of his black jeans. For this look, he paired a pair of light tinted orange shades and a black fedora hat as accessories. This flyer not only made a statement about whatAdams was running for but it also exemplified how fashionable a campaign can be.

On Tuesday, he released the most talked-about photo of his campaign. This flyer caught everyone’s attention because of his confidence, style choice, and location. For this flyer, he didn’t use the traditional studio setup for his pictures, he chose nature as his desired background. In this Vogue inspired magazine cover, Adams posed on a reddish-brown pile of dirt wearing a white button-up shirt with a black strap linked corset. He also wore light wash ripped blue jeans with a leopard print fedora hat. The way he slightly leaned to the side with his arms fixated on his hat and shirt collar shows how confident he is in front of the camera. If those two flyers weren’t enough of a fashion statement, Adams undoubtedly showed ASU’s student body why fashion is his passion.

On Wednesday, September 16th, at 12:20 pm in the Dr. Clinton Bristow Jr. Dining Facility, he had a fashion show featuring his fellow TREND family. The runway walks, energy, and Vogue inspired fashion surly made everyone stop eating and pay full attention. During the fashion show, Adams’ stride, posture, and facial expressions proved that he knew how to dress and tear up the runway.

Ending the week, he dropped his highly anticipated VOGUE video. In this video, he had two different looks. He wore a white VOGUE T-shirt with a black jean jacket and a black fedora hat for his first outfit. He also wore ripped black jeans with black, white, and red Jordans. He removed the white VOGUE T-shirt and a black jean jacket for his second look and added an almond brown short sleeve shirt and brown boots. Throughout the entire video, Adams’ style choice certainly matched his VOGUE platform.

During campaign week at Alcorn, Adams’ VOGUE campaign set the standard for fashion in future  campaigns to come. The selected style choice for all of his looks made his campaign memorable in the eyes of ASU’s student body. If there’s one thing people should take away from this campaign, it’s that if you put your passion into whatever you do, the execution will turn out amazing.
