A’Zarianne Johnson, a Junior from Minden, Louisiana, majoring in Mass Communications at Alcorn State University (ASU), embarked on an internship this Summer with Nate Nvil Solutions (NNS) Work Experience which will help her with her future career as a broadcaster.
NNS’s goal is to ‘position youth in an environment to engage, learn, understand, and develop their true passion and gifts. They will learn how to network and collaborate with peers and professionals within the community.’
According to Johnson the process to receiving the internship was simple. First, she completed an application, Secondly, she had had an interview and lastly, she had to do a video, which was to be critiqued by members of NNS, showcasing her creativity and talents.
Upon receiving the internship, Johnson chose the internship section specifically designed for Sports Marketing, Communications and Production Management majors. She then was asked to travel to three different states: Indiana, Illinois and Michigan to speak as a sports analyst. She also had the opportunity to interview players and other sport analysts at WNBA (Women’s National Basketball Association) games.
After the internship was completed, she was instructed to make a video about her overall experience. With this opportunity, Johnson learned to be more professional in an entertaining
environment. She explained that “I also learned how to speak fluently but sound
professional enough so that everyone could understand me.”
Johnson plans to use what she learned from the internship in her everyday life and career. “The tools that I was taught gave me a deeper insight of my actual field of work. For example, I learned how to take pictures and videos a certain way, so it can look more professional. I can use this in my everyday life because I hope to become a content creator and sports analyst one day, said Johnson.
