Don’t Move is a horror/thriller that recently made its groundbreaking debut on Netflix. The film was released on October 25, 2024 and is 1 hour and 32 minutes long. The film has already been listed as “#1 in movies today” on the Netflix website. It features the acting talents of Daniel Francis, Kelsey Asbille, and Finn Wittrock.
The plot of the movie is about Iris (Kelsey Asbille), a troubled mother who recently lost her son, who meets Richard (Finn Wittrock) who’s in a similar grieving situation. The two meet on a ledge, where Iris is contemplating suicide. Richard doesn’t necessarily talk her off of the ledge because he supposedly “knew how she felt” and wanted her to choose her own destiny. After choosing life and planning on going back home, Iris is injected with a paralyzing solution causing her to fight for her life with minimal functionality throughout her body all while attempting to get away from her abductor which leads to a suspenseful movie.
In my opinion, this movie had an amazing plot and was very well directed. With no prior knowledge of any spoilers in the film, it definitely threw a plot twist very early on which I believe to be a very effective way to grasp the viewer’s attention especially if they, like me, only give new things such a short time period to “impress” them. Although the plot may seem very basic, the movie was very well put together and the actors were very good. My only critique about the film is that I wish it gave more backstory about the main characters. For example, more should have been done about Iris’s life before/during the time her son died, and more about Richard and the explanation as to why he kidnapped Iris, and whether she was his first victim.
Don’t Move is undoubtedly one of the best movies I’ve watched on Netflix, and I strongly encourage others to watch it.
