Who would ever have imagined that Pennywise would come back out after 27 years in the sewers? This seemed very well planned since the story of the dancing clown includes the fact that he rises every 27 years from the sewers to feed on children. However, this remake of ‘IT’ has become hyped and successful enough to be labeled as the best horror film of all time. It has topped the original movie from 1990 which was the reason why most children would have a fear of clowns.

The beginning of ‘IT’ had audiences frightened as it contained a major tragedy caused by Pennywise (Bill Skarsgard), the dancing clown, which affects the main character Billy Denbrough (Jaeden Lieberher) throughout the movie. Pennywise tormented all of the kids in the movie before they all banded together with their similarities. Before he’d try and eat the children, he would feed on their fears first. All of the kids had a fear that Pennywise would try to unlock to feed on them, such as Beverly Marsh (Sophia Lillis) fearing her dad and Mike Hanlon (Chosen Jacobs) being scarred after witnessing his parents dying horrifically in a house fire. We would see them all suffer from their fears while Pennywise waits in the background before he goes after them himself.

The children’s parents were no help as they did not see one trace of how Pennywise had been been frightening their kids, so that is why the kids were thinking about taking care of Pennywise on their own. This is where Pennywise would realize he had a challenge. He would usually come out every 27 years to easily lure kids and feast on them but this group of kids were not having it. Once they found out where he lived, they went to investigate because that was the only way Billy would gain any type of peace by encountering ‘IT’.

Pennywise was able to temporarily split the kids up so that he could take them all one by one. However, as Beverly was just overcoming her fear on her own, ‘IT‘ took her. This causes the rest of the kids in the group to band back together and try their best to rescue her. Their plans were almost thwarted by the bully of the movie, Henry Bowers (Nicholas Hamilton), who tried to kill them all after being brainwashed by Pennywise. Luckily, the kids were tough enough to handle him too. The final battle was unlike any villain confrontation anyone has ever seen since kids are involved and Pennywise is much more than just a supernatural clown, he is consideredto be an ancient, demonic, shape-shifting malevolent creature. Despite what he is, they made sure Pennywise would be disposed of either for good or for another 27 years.

Even though this was still considered a horror film, it went out of its way to keep audiences entertained the entire 2 hours by differentiating itself from other horror films that would usually have slow starts. Now it is on the list of the top 5 best horror films of all time. ‘IT’ brought out the best acting skills in each of the young actors in the movies. This will make them all stars in Hollywood very soon. ‘IT’ made $123.1 million in its opening weekend and thus far has accumulated $304.5 million worldwide.

‘IT’ receives 7 stars out of 10 stars.
