Zack Snyder is known for directing diverse films in the film industry, particularly his comic book films. Compared to his earlier films such as Watchmen, Man of Steel, and Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, audiences and critics both agree that his style of writing and directing is keeping a consistently dark tone. No matter what the reviews may say, he can always say he made his films exactly how he wanted to do them. However, after the tragic death of his daughter, Snyder had to devote valuable time with his family, unfortunately leaving his vision of the Justice League in Joss Whedon’s hands. Now after a long hiatus and years of production, Warner Bros. finally allowed him to complete his vision of how the film should be.

Justice League begins in the city of Metropolis during the events of Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. The opening scene shows Superman (Henry Cavill) screaming in agony right before being murdered by the monster Doomsday. His scream were so powerful that it was heard around the world catching the attention of beings beyond Earth. Victor Stone, also known as Cyborg (Ray Fisher), is in his home noticing that the Mother Box his father brought home was reacting differently than usually staying silent. It was at that moment that everyone knew that Superman’s death caused a disruption within the universe.

A few years later, Bruce Wayne, also known as Batman (Ben Affleck), is seen horseback riding in Iceland in hopes of recruiting a hero for a team to fight the forces of an upcoming evil. Bruce comes across a small remote village in search of a man who locals call the Aquaman. Bruce encounters a man named Author Curry (Jason Momoa), who is defensive about the existence of Aquaman, but deep-down Bruce knew he was the hero locals were discussing. Bruce asks for Author’s help to join the team due to the future threat that could potentially invade the planet. Unfortunately, Author declines his offer and swims away. After what is perceived as a failure, Bruce gets back on his plane and flies back home to recruit the next hero who is Barry Allen, also known as the Flash (Ezra Miller).

Meanwhile, on the island of Themyscira, the Amazons are alerted by the Mother Box and go into defense mode for the upcoming battle. Suddenly, a boom tube opens up and a swarm of Parademons attack the Amazons led by the New God, Steppenwolf. The Amazons fought valiantly to protect the Mother Box, but to no avail. Ultimately, Steppenwolf took the first Mother Box with only two left and the Amazons had no choice but to warn Diana, also known as Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), about the upcoming invasion from the New Gods of Apokolips. Now it’s up to the unlikely group of heroes to come together as a league to stop the inevitable crisis.

Zack Snyder’s Justice League is an epic experience for all longtime fans of D.C. comics. Every actor is perfect casting for each individual hero they are portraying. The visuals and special effects are specular to behold. Despite the long running time of the film length, it’s still worth every minute to see how Snyder’s vision of the iconic superhero team was meant to be seen. It completely blows away the 2017 version by Joss Whedon and Zack’s version demands a sequel.
