Movie Review: Speak No Evil

STARRING: JAMES MCAVOY, MACKENZIE DAVIS, SCOOT MCNAIRY

DIRECTED BY: JAMES WATKINS

RELEASE DATE: September 13, 2024

Speak No Evil is a recently released horror movie which is a remake of the Danish psychological thriller of the same name which was released in 2022. The release date of the current film was September 13, 2024 and the run time is approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes.

The movie is about a family touring a foreign country, in which they soon learn that the family which helped them settle in, have a lot of dark hidden secrets. Throughout the movie, the family suspects something is amidst which leads to the overall plot twist of the film.

The movie is very cliche with its over-the-top scenes and precocious children. Regardless of its slow build it kept me on the edge of my seat towards the end. It had a lot more depth than other films with a similar storyline.

Speak No Evil was good for what it was, but very predictable. I believe that a less predictable outcome would have made it much better.
