THE CAMPUS CHRONICLE

My Life

For days and days I wrote down my ways.

Sharing my journey from page to page.

Unanswered prayers as time faded away.

Each prayer answered in mysterious ways.

This is my life in the scripture, my life.

This is MY LIFE!

There was blood in the air and fear in my lungs, gun after gun.

All aiming at each one I’m not looking back knowing my life is done.

This was the story of the black lives shot at with guns.

This is my life in the scripture, my life.

This is MY LIFE!

Restless nights tumbling from left to right with voices in my head.

Saying tonight is the night.

There was a knock at the door with my homie saying it’s time for war.

But that same night he was found dead; they shot him at South Shore.

This is my life in the scripture, my life.

This is MY LIFE!

Brown on my chest I dress to impress.

The first of the month is when mama get her check.

But I gotta get my own cause daddy not home.

He left my mama with two kids all on her own.

So I please and please because there’s no need to tease.

Being disrespectful is all I see.

So yes Mr. Disrespectful is who I choose to please.

This is my life in the scripture, my life.

This is MY LIFE!
