Due to Covid-19, Alcorn State University has made some significant changes to its campaign season. On September 14th – 23rd, the candidates campaigned virtually to become the newest representatives of the Student Government Association (SGA) for the 2020-2021 academic year.
Online voting for the newly elected SGA representatives was initially set for Tuesday, September 22nd, from 9:00 am through 5:00 pm but due to technical difficulties voting was postponed until Thursday, September 24th, from 9:00 am through 5:00 pm. At 7:00 pm on September 24th, Taea Jackson, Miss Alcorn 2020-2021 and Patrick Mason, SGA President 2020-2021, announced the winners live on Instagram.
Upon the announcement, the Miss Freshman candidates, Rayven Jones and Janaria Kimber had a runoff on September 29th, from 9:00 am through 5:00 pm because neither candidate received 50 percent of the vote. After the runoff election Jones was declared the winner.
