Should Abortions Be Outlawed?

Should abortions be outlawed?

Abortion is the intentional termination of human pregnancy to avoid the birth of a child. Some people consider that it is justifiable to have an abortion. I disagree with this. I think that abortions should be banned because they take innocent lives, punish innocent people, and the thought of them never goes away.

Abortion in my humble opinion is murder. The killing of an innocent human being is immoral, even if that human being has yet to be born. An unborn child, believe it or not, is still a human being. By having an abortion, that said individual is agreeing to committ an act of murder. Murder is illegal. That child did not ask to be here. Abortions take away a child’s voice as well as its chance at life. That is completely heartless and cruel.

I honestly cannot even imagine killing my child. Nor can I imagine if my mother had aborted me. I am thankful for my life every day. It hurts my heart to know that there are some children that will never get to experience life as we do, all because of the choices that their parents made. In life, we have to learn to take responsibility for our actions. We cannot play the blame game and run from all of our problems. At some point we have to grow up and face our problems head on.

I realize that sometimes the situation is out of a person’s control and they may feel as if they do not have a choice. Perhaps the woman was raped, the baby has been diagnosed with a defect, or the woman’s well being may be in danger. However, one mishap should not be retaliated with another. You cannot wipe away a rape by killing a child, you cannot heal a baby by taking its life, and you cannot dodge all health issues by escaping the actuality of another human being. Women should never be obligated to make an abrupt choice for abortion or compelled to take the life of their child as a substitute to giving that child a chance to resist the odds.

Unborn human beings are living, divided, and unique. From the moment of fertilization a new human life is in existence. Ending a life is not ending “potential” or “probability.” It is ending a life. A child does not deserve to die because his/her mother and/or father were irresponsible. A child did not come to the conclusion that his/her parents would have sex or that they would use ineffective protection. An unborn child is always innocent and should never be penalized for something that they have no control over.

No matter how hard a person may try, they can never erase what abortion does. Abortion seizes and kills an innocent and defenseless human being. Women who go through with an abortion will have to always bear that thought with them. They probably often imagine what their child would have looked like, behaved like, and what type of person he/she would have been. Regardless of how strong a woman is, an abortion causes mental agony that never truly goes away. Time does not nullify murder or lessen the certainty of what it is. Abortion is a cruel tragedy, but it is also a choice that should by no means be made. Such a choice stays with a person forever.

Overall, abortion is murder, it is wrong, and it should be outlawed. There are no exclusions allowed, no negotiations possible. Abortions are inhumane and heartbreaking. No innocent child should have its life taken away from them when they did not ask to be here. They should be given the chance at life just as we were given.
