Camren Stewart and Quashondra Addison were named the 2025-2026 Mr. and Ms. Mass Communications within the Department of Mass Communications at Alcorn State University (ASU).
Addison, 21, is a Senior from McComb, Mississippi majoring in Mass Communications. She is a 2022 graduate of South Pike High School and is the daughter of LaShonda Addison. Upon entering Alcorn in the Fall of 2022, Addison wanted to make herself known throughout the Department by joining organizations such as The National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) and acquiring the position of Secretary. She began doing the afternoon newscast and had her own radio show called ‘The Golden Hour’ for WPRL 91.7 FM (Alcorn’s radio station). Addison has been a reporter for The Campus Chronicle (Alcorn’s online student run newspaper) where she’s produced more than 35 stories throughout various sections of the paper.
After graduation in the Spring of 2026, she plans on finding a position in Marketing while pursuing a Master’s degree in Communications from the University of Southern Mississippi. Her motto in life comes from Isaiah 54:17 which states that, “No weapon formed against me shall prosper.”
Stewart, 20, is a Junior from Baton Rouge, Louisiana majoring in Mass Communications with an emphasis in Sports Broadcasting. He is the son of Elton Dunn and Carlthea Stewart and a 2023 graduate of Zachary High School in Zachary, Louisiana. After receiving an athletic and academic scholarship from Alcorn, Stewart stated, “I chose Alcorn because it had a family environment. It felt like a home away from home. Everything that they showed me just felt like a great fit.”
While at Alcorn, Stewart has had a Podcast entitled ‘Overtime Unlocked’, a radio show entitled ‘The Q and Cam Show’ on WPRL 91.7 FM, become a member of the Alcorn State University Football team and he is a member of the National Association for the Advancement for Colored People (NAACP). After graduating with his degree in the Fall of 2026, Stewart plans to pursue a career in Sports Talk Radio. One of his key mottos in life is “Rejoice always” from 1 Thessalonians 5:16 because according to Stewart, “Every day is a blessing and lessons are to be learned every day so take life one step at a time and enjoy it.”
