Study Abroad Presentation

The Myrlie Evers-Williams Honors Program and the Office of Global Programs at Alcorn State University hosted a study aboard presentation by Quentin Rothmann and Maryam Hassan, the Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistants at Alcorn State University (ASU), on Thursday, May 1, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 1:45 pm via Zoom.

The Studying Abroad “Expand your Horizon” Presentation overview speakers Rothmann (German teacher and international student) and Hassan (Arabic teacher and international student) explored the benefits of studying abroad, shared their individual perspectives, and encouraged student’s participation to make this possibly daunting task more accessible.

Social and intercultural skills play a more crucial role in this globalized and interconnected world than ever before. Acquiring these skills is not an easy feat but there are possibilities that inevitably lead to an improvement in that field. Studying in a different country is arguably one of the best ways to expand one’s horizon in ways that are not possible otherwise. Specific programs and ways to start one’s own journey will be presented to lower the threshold for students to start with their research.
