The Dynamic Duo Make History

Longtime broadcasters Jerome Myles, Sr. and Windell “The Bones Man” Harried celebrated their 10th anniversary this Fall as the voices of Jefferson County High School’s “Friday Night Lights” football broadcasts. The two men, natives of Natchez and Fayette, Mississippi have become well-known for bringing excitement and energy to local high school football coverage each Fall. Their broadcasts air through WPRL 91.7 FM, Alcorn State University’s (ASU) radio station, connecting fans from Jefferson County and beyond. This milestone marks a decade of teamwork, community spirit, and passion for the game.

The partnership between Myles and Harried began in 2015 when Myles continued Jefferson County High School football coverage after his former broadcast partner, Charles Edmond, accepted a position in Vicksburg, Mississippi. Myles, who had already been calling games for more than 20 years, knew exactly who he wanted to work with. He selected Harried and the pair quickly found a rhythm together in the broadcast booth, forming a friendship that listeners describe as both entertaining and authentic.

Before joining the broadcast team, Harried was already a familiar voice at Jefferson County games as the public address announcer, a role he held for nearly twenty years. A Fayette native and Jefferson County High School alumnus, Harried played multiple sports during his time as a student-athlete before graduating in 1980. He later attended Jackson State University, where he studied for three years before pursuing a career in construction and facilities management. Today, he serves as the Director of Operations and Facilities at Alcorn, managing campus construction and maintenance while still dedicating his Friday nights to Tiger football.

Between them, the two men have more than 30 years of experience connected to Jefferson County High School football. Their combined history covers decades of memories, from district championships to last-second game-winning plays. The duo still recalls one unforgettable moment when Jefferson County defeated Port Gibson with just eight seconds left on the clock, a highlight they both describe as one of their most special broadcast memories.

Both Myles and Harried are hopeful that their dedication will be recognized by the Jefferson County School District during this year’s Homecoming game. Superintendent Dr. Adrian Hammett is expected to honor the pair for their years of service to local sports broadcasting. Myles shared that such recognition would be an honor after decades of commitment to the community and the program. “We’ve been doing this for a long time,” he said. “It’s something we both truly enjoy, and we’re grateful to share it with our community every Friday night.”

Together, Myles and Harried continue to bring excitement, humor, and heart to every Jefferson County Tigers game they broadcast. Their partnership is more than a professional collaboration—it’s a brotherhood built on faith, friendship, and love for the game.
