Along with the urbanization and development of a lot of cities, far more opportunities have been created than at any other time period. The United States has a population of over 300 million and with hundreds of millions of people divided into 50 states, it’s hard to pinpoint which state, or more specifically which city, will provide the homiest feeling.
Some of the most populated cities in the United States are New York (8.8 million), Houston (2.3 million), San Antonio (1.4 million), and Chicago (2.7 million.) A lot of these populated cities according to some Americans, are OVERPOPULATED, although, they obviously still provide a lot of resources and opportunities for Americans.
Though, just because these cities have the most people, does not necessarily mean they would be the best option if one were to look for their new home. A lot of college students graduate college not knowing what’s next for them or what they’re going to do.
When asked the question, “What city do you want to move to?”, the average answer from recent college graduates would be Houston, Texas or Atlanta, Georgia. Both Houston and Atlanta are amazing cities. They’re common for networking, have a lot of different retail/food spots, and lots of job opportunities and common for tourism. But these cities obviously are insanely busy and could be a big leap for someone who’s not from there or used to living “the fast life.”
So, what other cities provide equal opportunities for someone looking to start a new life? Some other cities that have been the most promising for college graduates are Austin, Texas, Boston Massachusetts, and Athens, Georgia. Aside from being big cities themselves, these cities are also neighboring to other larger cities which gives college students the opportunity to flourish in them while also granting easy access to bigger cities if they wish to explore or have some fun. They also are said to have beautiful scenery and are very welcoming cities.
Life after college can be one of the most stressful time periods in one’s life, especially in America’s current economic state. But, if college students are looking for a fresh start after such stressful years in school, they should definitely move to one of the mid-size cities first to test the waters to see if it’s for them.
