There are a few actors who can seize almost any role in a movie that they want. James Franco happens to be that actor with his performances in Never Been Kissed and the first SpiderMan trilogy. Franco was born April 19, 1978 in Palo Alto, California to Betsy Lou and Douglas Eugene Franco. He has two younger brothers, Tom and Dave Franco. Dave is also an actor. Franco attended and dropped out of a few universities but managed to graduate from Yale University with a passion for theatre and filmmaking.

Like many other outstanding and notable actors, Franco started his career off small. Before he started getting TV roles, he did many Broadway plays which honed his acting ability. He also taught a few theatre classes so that he could share his experiences with up and coming actors and actresses. Before he debuted in films, Franco started off playing a delivery boy in Pizza Hut commercials and then an extra in a few TV shows. In 1999, he was cast as the lead role in the well reviewed NBC TV show Freaks and Geeks. He made his film debut in 2001 as the title character in James Dean. Because of this film, he won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Mini-Series. It was a wonderful achievement for him since it was his very first film.  That was only the beginning for him.

Franco became one of those actors who could perfect a role of a movie of any genre. He is commonly seen in comedies, dramas and thriller movies which shows his acting range. He even managed to get the role of the iconic comic book character, Harry Osborn, also known as Spider-Man’s best friend. That trilogy of movies is what made him become more of a well known actor. The second time Franco was nominated for an award was after his movie 127 Hours in 2010. He was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor but unfortunately he lost to Jeff Bridges. This never stopped Franco from making more movies that people still watch today such as Pineapple Express (2008), This is the End (2013), Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2011) and Oz: The Great and Powerful (2013). He also made a few good films in 2016: Why Him?, King Cobra and Sausage Party. There will be more films with him yet to come in 2017 which are Alien: Covenant and The Long Home.

Franco resides in Los Angeles, California where he continues to produce films.
