Actor’s Spotlight: Woody Harrelson

Woodrow Tracey Harrelson, also known as Woody Harrelson, was born on July 23, 1961 in Midland, Texas. Harrelson is one of the most well known actors in Hollywood. He graduated from Lebanon High School in 1979 and in 1983 he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Theater and English from Hanover College.

In 1985, he received recognition for his role as bartender Woody Boyd on the NBC sitcom Cheers, for which he won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series. He received several Academy Award nominations over the years, including Best Actor for The People vs Larry Flynt and Best Supporting Actor for the Messenger and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. Some of his most famous roles are in films such White Men Can’t Jump (1992), Natural Born Killers (1994), and Zombieland  (2009). Harrelson has also been in Now You See Me (2013), War for the Planet of the Apes (2017), Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018), and Zombieland: Double Tap (2019).

While Harrelson’s next big role is to play the villainous Carnage in the Venom sequel, fans have big expectations for the highly acclaimed actor.
