Giveon Dezmann Evans is a well-known R&B singer from Long Beach, California, who gained recognition for his hit album ‘Heartbreak Anniversary’ back in 2020. Now, he has a new album titled, ‘Beloved’ that was released on July 11, 2025. This album has over 1 million views on YouTube and peaked at number 8 on the Billboard 200. In addition, it was number 4 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Album chart. ‘Beloved’ consists of 14 songs and is 39 minutes long. There are four songs that caught my attention while viewing this album, which are “Twenties,” “Keeper,” “Mud,” and “Rather Be.”
“Twenties” was released earlier than the other songs that were contained in this extraordinary album. The beat starts off with a sweet, settled drum sound, followed by the other instruments that create an orchestra-like melody. Along with the instruments were Giveon’s vulnerable and honeyed vocals that flowed with the beat. The lyrics channel an emotion of regret as he discusses the time he spent in a relationship that was soon wasted in his twenties.
“Keeper” begins with a relaxed, punchy drum effect that camouflages with the rest of the sounds seconds later. As Giveon pours his love out to his lover (that is no longer in his presence), he sings in this sweet but powerful voice. You can feel his urge of wishing his lover was there by his side and his desire to change for her.
“Mud” automatically comes in with a suspenseful, intense orchestra beat. It symbolizes the hurt and cause of irritation Giveon is feeling at the moment. His voice throughout this was soft but commanding at the same time. Along with his soft voice were the powerful lyrics. Although the song does not involve a lot of lyrics, the few words he delivers speak volumes and significance. He managed to make it a short song but kept the impact of the potency after the song.
“Rather Be” captivates your attention immediately. Giveon combines Jazz and R&B together to create this soulful beat that pulls out a slow-dancing sensation out of you. Then, as he starts to sing, his velvety voice rides the waves of the lyrics he is gushing out throughout the song.
Overall, the album was a complete success. It was musically inclined and filled with emotions everyone can relate to.
