Toosii is known for dropping new music around this year, and 2022 is no exception. On October 7th, Toosii sent out a message on Instagram stating, ‘Boys Don’t Cry’ EP OUT NOW, which sent the world into a whirlwind.
The EP has 6 songs and is 17 minutes long. It consists of no features which was a good choice for the type of project it is. The songs showcase the artist’s different layers, such as his commitment and love for his fans to complete the album. Toosii wants to give his followers insight into how he feels mentally, emotionally, and spiritually and he completed that task with flying colors.
One of my favorite songs is “Hey Now”. This track opens the EP, and for good reason, because it really sets the tone for what type of album this is. Toosi talks about being grateful and giving gratitude to his fans and close team. The song details events that the artist recalls in his past life and the road to his future life. It does not have a hook that keeps the listener’s attention.
Another track that was enjoyable was “Bikini Bottom” because of the depth of the song and how it describes Toosii’s life. It really builds a connection between the artist and the listeners. The beat has a little of everything from base, guitar, and soothing sounds in the background.
I think “Heartaches” and “Love Is…” are great as well. “Heartaches” talks more about relationships and shows how devoted the artist has been to becoming a better person. “Love Is…” is a song where Toosii is venting to his fans or maybe to a particular someone. Either way, I can relate to it because it shows insight on where the artist stands on that situation.
I rate this EP a 4/5. I give it a 4 because I think that it could’ve had one turn up song for the fans. That way it would have been for everyone. Overall, you should definitely check out ‘Boys Don’t Cry’.
