Alcorn Business Celebrates Auditorium Naming Ceremony

On Thursday, November 14th, Alcorn State University (ASU) celebrated the dedication of the School of Business Auditorium in honor of alumnus and Insurance Executive Brian K. Johnson. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was held at 2:00 pm in the Dr. Rudolph E. Waters Classroom Building Auditorium.

Johnson, a native of Greenville, Mississippi, graduated from Alcorn with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and a Master’s degree from Jackson State University in Business Administration as well. Johnson is a Senior Executive Vice President at Fisher Brown Bottrell Insurance (FBBI), a Marsh McLennan Agency LLC Company. He began his career as a Management Development Associate at Trustmark National Bank in 2006. He joined FBBI in 2007, where he has built a successful career over nearly two decades. In his current role, Johnson serves as a Risk and Insurance Advisor, focusing on public and governmental entities, nonprofit organizations, educational risks, manufacturers, and surety support for general contractors.

Students in attendance praised the event for honoring Johnson’s impact. “The program dedicated to Mr. Johnson was very well organized. After hearing about all that he has done for Alcorn, he truly deserves this honor,” said Senior Biology Pre-Professional major, Morgan Haynes.

Johnson’s professional achievements include being named one of Insurance Business Magazine’s Top 100 Insurance Brokers in America for six consecutive years and being recognized as a Top 50 Under 40 Leading Business Leader by the Mississippi Business Journal. His career and dedication reflect the values of leadership and community service championed by ASU. His extensive community service and philanthropic efforts are shown through leadership roles with St. Dominic’s Health Services Foundation, the USA International Ballet Competition, Ready Nation Mississippi Early Childhood Investment Council, and the Mississippi Museum of Art. He is also a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc., Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity — Beta Gamma Boule, FBI Citizens Academy Alumni Association, NAACP, 100 Black Men of Jackson, and other prominent organizations. In 2023, he was appointed by Governor Tate Reeves to the Mississippi Business Finance Corporation/Mississippi Development Bank.

Currently, Johnson lives in Madison, Mississippi, with his wife, Christina and their children, daughter Nova, and son Bronx. He and his family are active members of Redeemer Presbyterian Church.
