Alcorn State University (ASU) held its Fall 2023 commencement exercise on Saturday, December 9th on the Lorman campus. The graduation consisted of over 200 undergraduate and graduate students. The ceremony began at 9:00 am at the Davey L. Whitney HPER Complex (New Gym). Each graduate was issued five (5) tickets for the event and masks were strongly encouraged.
The keynote speaker for the graduation was the Chief of the United States Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and Alcorn Alumnus, Terry Crosby.
Crosby is the head of a network that helps farmers, ranchers, and private forest landowners plan and carry out voluntary conservation activities. His implementation of the Biden-Harris Administration includes climate change mitigation through the Inflation Reduction Act.
His priorities for NRCS include building a workforce and nurturing partnerships, addressing climate control issues, ensuring equitable access to NRCS resources for all producers, and supporting urban agriculture.
Crosby earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Education from Alcorn.
