On Wednesday, September 25th, Alcorn State University (ASU) hosted its annual Fall Career Fair in the Davey L. Whitney Gymnasium (New Gym) so that students could come out and learn more about what different companies had to offer.
The event started at 9:00 am and concluded at 1:00 pm. The purpose of the Career Fair was to give students the opportunity to come out and hear from different colleges and businesses about what they had to offer. There were several different graduate schools there including, Jackson State University, The University of Mississippi, Mississippi College School of Law, Mississippi College, etc. There were also a variety of different companies that stopped by to engage with students such as Nissan, Waffle House, Youth Villages, Blue Cross, The U.S. Department of Agriculture, The United States Job Core, and Penn Entertainment.
Roy Burr, the Coordinator for First- and Second-Year students at Alcorn State, stated, “The great thing about the Career Fair is that it provides our students with the opportunists to come out and network with different companies and schools that could possibly offer them internships or scholarships for their current field of study.”
Junior Social Work major, Jayshawn Holgatson, stated, I’ve been coming to the Career Fair for 2 years now and it has helped me locate job opportunities following my upcoming graduation in 2026.
