Braves Present Fall High School and Transfer Day 2022

On Saturday, September 24th, the Alcorn State University (ASU) Braves hosted its annual High School and Transfer Day on the Lorman campus from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm. Alcorn welcomed high school and transfer students from all over the country and abroad to see what the Braves had to offer them in the near future.

The itinerary for the event began for the prospective students at 11:00 am – 1:00 pm with 3 activities which consisted of registration, a campus tour, and an Academic and Student Support Fair. The students were then treated to lunch and a program from 1:30 pm – 4:30 pm. Afterwards, each high school and transfer student was treated to ASU’s football game at 6:00 pm in Spinks-Casem Stadium as the Braves hosted the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff Golden Lions upon which the Braves won 38-21. K’Erica Dawson, a Junior from South Pike High School stated, “I really enjoyed myself today. Alcorn has really given me some insight on what college life is really about.”

Schools from all over Mississippi attended the event such as Amite County High School from Liberty, Mississippi, Cleveland Central High School from Cleveland, Mississippi, Forest High School from Forest, Mississippi, Lawrence County High School from Monticello, Mississippi, Moss Point High School from Moss Point, Mississippi, Natchez High School from Natchez, Mississippi, O’Bannon High School from Greenville, Mississippi, Philadelphia High School from Philadelphia, Mississippi, Port Gibson High School from Port Gibson, Mississippi, South Pike High School from Magnolia, Mississippi, Vicksburg High School from Vicksburg, Mississippi, Warren Central High School from Vicksburg, Mississippi, and Wilkinson County High School from Woodville, Mississippi.

Dr. Eric Dogini, Program Coordinator of Mass Communications at ASU, stated, “This event was well coordinated and the incoming students appeared to really enjoy themselves. It is a much needed presence for any student who may be on the fence about attending college.”
