Keaundria Monteria Milloy is a Multimedia Journalist/Weekend Anchor for WDAM 7 News in Moselle, Mississippi. She was born on February 6, 1998. Her parents are Lear Windham and Kevin Milloy. She has two siblings, Kawonza Milloy and Contreyvus White. Milloy is from Mount Olive, Mississippi and she graduated from Mount Olive High School in 2016. During high school, she was involved in the Beta Club, Student Council, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and she was a cheerleader.
After high school, Milloy attended Alcorn State University (ASU) and graduated Magna Cum Laude in May 2020 with a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications. Transitioning into college brought her many experiences in media. She began writing for the school newspaper, ‘The Campus Chronicle’, during her Freshman year, including editorials, advice columns, student life, poetry, etc. During her Sophomore and Junior year, she produced her own radio show every week on Alcorn’s radio station, WPRL 91.7 FM, called ‘The Fresh Swiss Mix.’ She produced, reported, and anchored for ASU TV-13 (Alcorn’s television station) as well. Milloy was inducted into the Sigma Chi Iota Honor Society during her Junior year at Alcorn. She also won various awards for her newspaper entries while at ASU.
Milloy began her career in Journalism in April 2020 at Twin States News in Meridian, Mississippi. She reported on several topics, shot videos, edited, and wrote stories. After a year and three months, her journey as a reporter continued in North Mississippi at WTVA 9 News. There, she was able to perform live shots, fill in as an anchor, and meet great people in the industry. She left the media industry in 2022 to pursue her Master’s degree in Liberal Arts. She graduated with the degree from Alcorn in December 2023. She returned to news in October 2023 where she began her job at WDAM. She started as a Multimedia Journalist and worked her way to become the weekend anchor in August 2024.
In May 2024, her News Director, Emily Forrester, nominated her to become a member of the newly formed Young Professionals Committee for the Mississippi Association of Broadcasters. The program is made up of employees of different positions at Mississippi stations who come up with ideas to get more high school and college students interested in the news field in Mississippi.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE ALCORN? I chose to attend Alcorn because most of my family are alumni, and I loved going to games and programs as a kid. I felt my next journey needed to be an Historically Black College and University (HBCU) and Alcorn was the perfect fit.
WHAT ORGANIZATIONS WERE YOU A PART OF WHILE AT ALCORN? On campus, I was a member of Girls Coalition, Impact Community Service Organization, POWER, and the ASU Newscast Team.
HOW HAS ALCORN HELPED PREPARE YOU FOR YOUR CAREER? Alcorn helped me prepare for my career by providing resources such as the campus newspaper and television station. Both were very essential for me to conduct my duties as a journalist.
WHAT IS SOMETHING THAT YOU ENJOYED THE MOST ABOUT ALCORN? What I enjoyed most about Alcorn was the people. Everyone is so friendly and helpful on campus. They treat you like family because they want to see you succeed.
DO YOU HAVE ANY ADVICE FOR CURRENT STUDENTS ON ‘THE YARD’? My advice for students is to always take advantage of every resource and opportunity on campus. Get out, make friends, and make lasting memories that you can carry with you for the rest of your life. #AlwaysAlcorn
