Alcorn State University (ASU) has made its way to the top of College Consensus’ Best Colleges and Universities’ list in Mississippi for 2018. ASU is ranked sixth and the highest ranked Historically Black College and University (HBCU) in Mississippi.
College Consensus is an organization that provides the most accurate and comprehensive rankings of a school’s reputation and quality available. To determine the Best Colleges and Universities in Mississippi for 2018 the results were averaged from college ranking systems. This process is known as meta ranking. They also receive thousands of real student satisfaction reviews and scores and combine them with online website reviews from Niche, Cappex, and Unigo to put together and produce the ratings for each school. With the Consensus method, the biases of other rankings are filtered out, which leaves the schools with the strongest academics, student support and community.
Alcorn is placed sixth with an average score of 59.7 after Millsaps College, Mississippi University for Women, William Carey University, Mississippi State University and the University of Mississippi. Millsaps College has the highest score on the list with a composite of 68. Following Alcorn is Mississippi College, the University of Southern Mississippi and Jackson State University.
ASU finished with a high student satisfaction rating of 76.3 which speaks volumes for its faculty and staff. The university is currently seventh on the Best HBCU’s list compiled by College Consensus as well.
