Alcorn State University’s Men’s Basketball Head Coach Landon Bussie has resigned after five seasons with the program. He will be accepting the head coaching position at Chicago State, which competes in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC).
This season, the Braves finished sixth in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) with an 11-7 conference record. During his tenure as head coach, Bussie led the Braves to back-to-back SWAC regular-season championships in 2022 and 2023. He was named SWAC Coach of the Year twice, and under his leadership, the Braves maintained a 70 percent win rate in Conference play, winning 59 of 85 Conference games.
Following Bussie’s resignation, Alcorn State will begin its search for the next head men’s basketball coach immediately.
